I was raised in Montana on a llama farm. I've been making things with my hands since I was tiny, at the prompting of my artistic mother and handy father. I began taking pictures in junior high, mostly on disposable Kodak cameras, encouraging my friends to dress up and pose. I went to Wellesley College, where I studied English and art, later earning my masters degree in writing from Sarah Lawrence College. Though I've been taking my friends' engagement photos and head shots since college, I started shooting professionally in 2014. It brings me deep joy to make people feel comfortable and beautiful in front of a lens, especially those who hate having their picture taken. I am committed to social justice.
I spent the last decade in New York City and am now based in Longmont, Colorado. I also write.
I like good people and good projects. For bookings, email katharinereece [at] gmail [dot] com.

"Katharine did a wonderful job shooting our wedding. She was friendly, professional, and made us feel comfortable throughout. She was also very accommodating and happy to work with our dog! (She got amazing pics of him too.) Each photo not only captured beautiful moments, but who we are as a couple. We cannot recommend her highly enough."
"Wellesley hired Katharine to photograph our 3rd annual Durant Society event for leadership donors in NYC, and I couldn't be happier with the results! Her photographs are gorgeous, and really elevated what would have otherwise been a cookie cutter event. Katharine was a breeze to work with, making time in her busy schedule on short notice and easily capturing the essence of our event and guests. I look forward to working with her on many more events to come!"
